A well-established financial services organisation specialising in lending solutions is seeking a Broker Underwriting Specialist to join its operations team. The role is available in Taguig City, Philippines with opportunities to collaborate with international stakeholders across the business.

Job Description

The Broker Underwriting Specialist will

  • Assess new lending applications against underwriting policies, criteria, and risk appetite.
  • Review supporting documents including credit reports, valuations, income documents, and bank statements.
  • Liaise with brokers, distributors, customers, and internal teams to progress applications efficiently.
  • Deliver agreed SLAs and KPIs while maintaining high-quality processing standards.
  • Provide detailed guidance on products, lending criteria, and application requirements.
  • Manage an allocated pipeline of cases and maintain proactive communication with stakeholders.
  • Escalate and recommend exceptions to lending criteria where justified business reasons exist.
  • Support compliance, governance, ESG, DE&I, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

  • Experience within mortgage, homeowner, or specialist lending environments.
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of mortgage underwriting processes and broker channels.
  • Understanding of FCA regulations, Consumer Duty, and lending compliance principles is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Degree qualification preferred; CeMAP certification is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong attention to detail and a customer-centric approach.
