Job Description

  • Lead the development and execution of the company's credit risk model and strategy across microfinance and SME lending portfolios, balancing portfolio growth with asset quality and profitability targets.
  • Design, implement, and continuously refine credit policies, underwriting frameworks, scorecards, and approval processes to support scalable and disciplined lending operations nationwide.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, delinquency trends, write-offs, and collection effectiveness, using data-driven insights to identify emerging risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Partner closely with sales, operations, collections, and product teams to optimize customer acquisition, risk segmentation, pricing, and operational efficiency while maintaining prudent risk standards.
  • Build and lead a high-performing credit risk organization, ensuring strong governance, regulatory compliance, reporting standards, and alignment with the company's long-term growth objectives.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Head of Credit Risk should have:

  • A strong background in credit risk management within the financial services industry.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing credit risk models and risk management frameworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of statistics and data science
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills to assess and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and collaborating with senior stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills to manage internal and external relationships.
