The Head of Micro / Early‑Stage SME Lending will be responsible for building, scaling, and optimising a digitally enabled micro‑SME lending business, with full ownership of strategy, growth, credit performance, and profitability. The role will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive sustainable expansion through data‑driven decision‑making, automation, ecosystem partnerships, and disciplined risk management.

Job Description

  • Define and execute the end‑to‑end strategy for the Micro/Early‑Stage SME segment
  • Build and scale a digitally enabled lending operation leveraging automation and data
  • Own portfolio performance across growth, yield, credit quality, and profitability
  • Partner closely with credit, risk, tech, and operations to optimise underwriting and servicing
  • Develop data‑driven frameworks using transactional and behavioural insights
  • Build, lead, and inspire a high‑performing, entrepreneurial leadership team
  • Structure and scale ecosystem partnerships (e‑wallets, POS, platforms, super apps)

The Successful Applicant

A successful Head of Microfinancing will demonstrate a strong blend of commercial leadership, financial expertise, and execution discipline, including:

  • Extensive experience within financial services, with strong exposure to microfinance, SME lending, or adjacent segments
  • Demonstrated success in leading, building, and managing high‑performing commercial or lending teams
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate data into actionable strategy and performance outcomes
  • Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks, governance, and compliance requirements in the Philippines
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and relationship‑building skills
  • A results‑oriented mindset, balancing growth ambition with disciplined execution and risk awareness
  • 10-15+ years' experience in SME lending, fintech, or digital banking with proven scale‑up success
