Job Description

  • Deliver day-to-day technical support for Mainframe OS and Storage environments as part of BAU (Business-as-Usual) operations.
  • This is a purely technical, hands-on role-not a leadership or managerial position.
  • Collaborate daily with client-side Mainframe OS/Storage SMEs and technical peers.
  • Handle Major Incidents (MI), Priority-1 (P1), and lower-priority tickets as part of regular support duties.
  • Participate in weekend support activities, including problem resolution, root cause analysis (RCA), and change management (CMR) tasks.
  • Provide support during business hours and be available for on-call support as required.
  • Contribute to mainframe-related projects such as hardware upgrades, OS updates, and ISV product enhancements.
  • Maintain 99.99% system availability and ensure compliance with agreed service level agreements (SLAs).

The Successful Applicant

  • Has 10+ years of experience working in mainframe storage environment.
  • Practical experience with IBM z14/z15/z16 mainframe hardware and Sysplex configurations.
  • Proficiency in z/OS v2.x, JES2, DFSMS, VTAM, RACF/ACF2, TCP/IP, OMVS, RMF/SMF.
  • Skilled in SMP/E, ISV products, UserMods, and system exits.
  • Familiarity with IPL/POR procedures and various mainframe consoles.
  • Experience with monitoring and automation tools such as OMEGAMON, TEPS, NetView, and SIEM.
  • Programming knowledge in Assembler, REXX, JCL, and CA-OPS/MVS Automation.
  • Expertise in IODF/IOCDS, HCD/HCM, and mainframe capacity planning and performance tuning.
  • Ability to manage PARMLIB and PROCLIB concatenations and customize memory regions.
  • Experience in disaster recovery planning and execution of DR drills.
  • Knowledge of MIPS optimization and software rationalization strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise storage hardware: Hitachi VSP 5500, IBM DS8000, IBM TS7000, EMC VMAX/PowerMax, and DLm.
  • Familiarity with storage replication technologies: IBM Metro/Global Mirror, Copy Services, EMC SRDF, and EMC GDDR.
  • Proficient in DFSMS suite, CA-1, IBM CSM, FlashCopy, BCV-SnapVX, zDP, and Safe Guarded Copy (SGC).
  • Manage and configure mainframe data center storage replication and virtual tape libraries.
  • Support both BAU and project-based mainframe OS/storage activities, including cross-site storage replication.
