Job Description

The Sr Manager/Manager - Underwriting will

  • Underwrite applications and manage complex risk assessments.
  • Dedicate approximately 50% of time to hands-on case underwriting.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of underwriters.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training initiatives.
  • Implement quality assurance and performance management frameworks.
  • Partner with underwriting leadership to optimise workflows and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to underwriting automation and rules engine development.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across underwriting operations.

The Successful Applicant

  • 10+ years of life underwriting experience.
  • 5+ years in underwriting leadership, management, or development roles.
  • Strong exposure to US life underwriting is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience coaching and developing underwriting professionals.
  • In-depth understanding of life insurance trends and underwriting technologies.
  • Strong data-driven decision-making and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Professional designations such as LOMA, ALU, or equivalent are advantageous.
