Assistant Commercial Manager (Freight Forwarding)

This role is responsible for achieving sales targets by managing client portfolios and driving new business across key logistics products, including Air, LCL, FCL, and Brokerage. You will play a critical role in expanding market presence, strengthening customer relationships, and improving operational and commercial performance.

Job Description

  • Drive sales growth by developing and managing a portfolio of clients aligned with the company's commercial strategy
  • Generate and convert tender opportunities, delivering strong and value-driven proposals
  • Identify and secure new business across customers, trade lanes, and product offerings
  • Build and maintain relationships with global partners, agents, and key stakeholders
  • Ensure smooth execution of secured business through adherence to SOPs and work instructions
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and proactively resolve commercial and operational issues
  • Review and validate invoices and support financial processes, including accounts receivable management
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise service delivery and retention
  • Maintain accurate CRM records (e.g. client data, opportunities, forecasting, and reporting)
  • Support pricing strategies and collaborate with operations/customer service teams for service enhancement

The Successful Applicant

Non-negotiables:

  • Proven experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain commercial roles
  • Strong sales background with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets
  • Knowledge of Air, LCL, FCL, and brokerage services
  • Excellent client relationship management and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and organisational abilities, including forecasting and reporting
  • Experience using CRM systems



Good-to-haves:

  • Experience managing key accounts or owning a book of business
  • Exposure to international trade lanes and network coordination
  • Leadership or mentoring experience
  • Background in invoice validation, pricing, or financial coordination
