This role will support catastrophe risk assessment and modeling activities across a range of natural hazards, including typhoons, earthquakes, floods, and severe weather events. This role combines geospatial analysis, statistical modeling, and data science techniques to evaluate catastrophe exposure and potential losses for insurance and reinsurance clients.

Job Description

  • Utilize catastrophe models and in-house models to generate outputs, with appropriate interpretation of results
  • Work with actuarial teams to provide outputs and analytical analysis for clients and prospects
  • Development and maintenance of proprietary modelling tools to support risk rating and direct pricing of natural perils
  • Utilize climate model outputs and integrate these with catastrophe risk models to inform model adjustments and projections
  • Real-time reporting and analysis of natural disasters and providing support to clients post event
  • Perform general administrative duties including adherence to compliance systems

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's/Master's qualification in Natural Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics
  • Prior experience in catastrophe modelling for insurance, reinsurance or other natural catastrophe risk modelling or risk assessment
  • Good problem solving skills and proactive aptitude
  • Ability to organize and synthesize large datasets
  • Experience with programming languages including R and Python would be beneficial
  • Experience with database software including SQL server would be an advantage
